What is a Menstrual-Shift Pill(Event pill)
The Menstrual-Shift Pill (Event Pill) is classified as a medium-dose hormonal pill.
It contains higher amounts of progestin and estrogen compared to low-dose birth control pills.
By taking the Menstrual-Shift Pill, you can safely postpone your menstrual period to match your schedule.
While taking the pill, your period will not occur.
Once you stop taking it, your period will usually start within a few days, although this may vary from individual to individual.
To maintain proper hormone balance, take the pill at the same time every day (within a 1–2 hour window).
How can I make my period come earlier?
If you wish to bring your period forward, you’ll need to take the Menstrual-Shift Pill (Event Pill) — a medium-dose pill such as Planovar — starting around the 3rd day of your current period, for 14 consecutive days.
After completing the 14-day course, your period will typically start a few days later.
Please note that individual responses may vary, and it is not possible to guarantee perfect timing of your period.
To maintain stable hormone levels, take the pill at the same time each day as consistently as possible.
How can I delay my period?
To delay your period, take the Menstrual-Shift Pill (Event Pill) — Planovar (a medium-dose hormonal pill manufactured by Asuka Pharmaceutical) — once daily starting 5 days before your expected period.
Continue taking one tablet per day until the day you want to keep your period delayed.
While taking the pill, your period will not occur.
After you stop taking it, your period will usually start within a few days.
Please note that individual responses may vary, and the exact timing of your period cannot be guaranteed.
To maintain stable hormone levels, take the pill at the same time every day during the treatment period.
We recommend starting at a time that best fits your daily routine to help avoid missing a dose.
How should I take the Menstrual-Shift Pill (Event Pill)?
Take one tablet per day, preferably at around the same time each day.
Because the pill may cause mild nausea, it’s recommended to take it before going to bed, allowing some time after your last meal.
At our clinic, we also prescribe an anti-nausea medication (Metoclopramide) to help prevent side effects.
If you’re concerned about nausea, take one Metoclopramide tablet together with the pill.
If you want to delay your period:
Start taking the pill at least 5 days before your expected period and continue until the day you wish to keep your period delayed.
If you want to bring your period forward:
Start taking the pill on the 5th day of your period and continue for 10 consecutive days.
Are there any side effects from the Menstrual-Shift Pill (Event Pill)?
Possible side effects of the Menstrual-Shift Pill (Event Pill) include nausea, vomiting, mild genital bleeding, headache, and swelling.
According to reports, these side effects occur in about 10% of users.
At our clinic, we provide a free anti-nausea medication for the number of days you will be taking the Menstrual-Shift Pill, to help prevent discomfort and make it easier to take.
Please feel free to take advantage of this service when using the pill.
I’m currently taking low-dose birth control pills. What should I do?
If you are taking a low-dose birth control pill, you can delay your period by skipping the placebo (inactive) pills for the number of days you wish to postpone menstruation.
After taking your 21st active pill, continue by taking pills from your next pack instead of the placebo tablets.
Then, start a new pack on the 8th day after finishing the extended course.
Please note that there are two main types of low-dose pills:
Monophasic pills (such as Marvelon, Favoir, Ortho)
Triphasic pills (such as Triquilar, Ange, Synphase)
The method for shifting your period may vary slightly depending on which type you are using.
For more reliable control of your menstrual cycle, we may recommend using a medium-dose pill (Menstrual-Shift Pill / Planovar) instead of your current low-dose pill.
I have allergies. Can I still take the Menstrual-Shift Pill (Event Pill)?
There is generally no problem taking this medication.
Please refer to the information below.
For the Menstrual-Shift Pill (Event Pill), morning-after pills, and low-dose birth control pills,
there is usually no issue unless you are allergic to the pill itself or its active ingredients.
People with common allergies such as hay fever or food allergies (including eggs or buckwheat)
can generally use these medications without any problem.
If you have any other drug or substance allergies,
please note them on your medical questionnaire and consult us in advance.
What does the prescription include?
Prescription Details
At the time of prescription, you will receive:
14 tablets of Planovar (Menstrual-Shift Pill)
14 tablets of Metoclopramide (anti-nausea medication)
These two medications are prescribed together as a set.
If you have any leftover pills after completing your course,
you may keep them as spares and use them again when you wish to adjust your menstrual schedule at a later time.
Please feel free to consult us before reusing them.

We take great care to ensure discreet and private delivery for your peace of mind.

Yes, it’s possible.
You can pick up your medication discreetly at a Yamato Transport branch office without anyone finding out.
In addition, there are other ways to receive your package without having it delivered to your home.
You can choose to pick it up at a convenience store or a post office, depending on what’s most convenient for you.
Will my medication be delivered properly?
Yes.
Each prescription is individually packaged according to your personal treatment.
We ship your medication using Yamato Transport (Kuroneko Yamato) or Japan Post, depending on your area and the delivery method you select.
When your package is shipped, we issue a shipping slip number and a tracking number.
After the shipping process is completed, these numbers will be sent to you by notification, allowing you to track your delivery status using each carrier’s official tracking system.
If you wish to change your delivery address or check the detailed delivery schedule after shipment,
please contact the respective carrier directly using your tracking number and your full name:
Yamato Transport Customer Service: 0570-200-000

Can I pick up my medication at a convenience store?
Yes, it is possible.
However, to use this option, you must be registered with Kuroneko Members (Yamato Transport’s membership service) and complete the setup on your own.
Since the process can be somewhat complex, we recommend choosing pickup at a Yamato branch office if you are not familiar with the procedure — this is the most reliable and discreet method to avoid anyone finding out.
There have been occasional issues with convenience store pickup, such as being unable to select it on the website or delays in delivery time after choosing that option.
If you prefer not to have the package delivered to your home, we strongly recommend pickup at a Yamato branch office instead of a convenience store, to ensure secure and timely delivery.
If you have already chosen convenience store pickup and need to inquire about your package after shipment, please contact Yamato Customer Service (0570-200-000) directly.
Please note that our clinic cannot respond to delivery-related inquiries once the package has been shipped.
